Opening
of a new Asiatic museum in Nice June 1998 The architect of
this new museum is the Japanese Kenzo Tange. He realized as he said
said " a floatting mandala over a lake ", or a "
jewel color of snow in the azur of the Mediterranean ". Indeed,
a pyramid is pointed over a cilinder built on four cubes and surrounded
by water. Each of the main asiatic civilization are represented
: China, Japan, India and Cambodia. But there is a lack in the collections.
Half a dozen of pieces for each part is not enough. The first temporary
exhibition is about the representation of body in Asia : "
absent body, present body ". E.Boutinard.Translated

since VIth century b.c. The most important vestiges are
those of Roquepertuse, IIIrd century b.c. : " Hermès
